It's more different from 5e than 5e is from 1e.Ħe has a lot of holes in it that require an experienced GM to fill in, and is missing enough lore that it's more of a quick-start level introduction to the SR setting than an actual full CRB. The first three editions are fundamentally the same with some tweaks between editions, and 4e/20A/5e are likewise fundamentally similar to each other, but 6e is it's own thing entirely. It's also worth noting that there are three "families". It also is hard to get since it's been a couple of decades, and rather pricey f you like dead-tree editions. It's also still Shadowrun, and arguably the last edition that can make that claim with a straight face.Ĥe/20A is probably the best blend of ease of learning, detail of setting, being pre-shark-jump lore-wise, community support, and availabilty.ģe is the last FASA edition, and while it's a personal fave of mine and a good choice for those like me who like detail, it's also a bit crunchy for some folks.
